Miss Personality

M's personality is really starting to blossom.  She will talk to almost anyone. Tonight we went to a pancake supper at our church.  She walked up to an older gentlemen in our church, took him by the hand and said "Come on".  She proceeded to drag him around the Family Life Center wanting him to play.  It was really quite humorous.  Mr. Don is not normally the one kids gravitate to.  I don't think he was really sure what to do.  I was going to go rescue him but his wife, Mrs Linda was laughing so hard about it, that I just let them "play" a little longer.  Eventually she left him alone and moved on to the next person.  She certainly made her rounds tonight.  And have I mentioned that she is talking????  It is so great to be able to understand Miss Priss these days, although a little peace and quiet would be nice every now and then.

She continues to stick things up her  nose.  She has been picking small rocks and mortar off her rock wall fireplace.  Luckily I have been able to get that stuff out...so far at least.  Yesterday the left side of her nose kept running and she was coughing, which is usually the sign that something is up her nose.  I looked and looked but couldn't see anything.  We went to some friends' house for a cookout and had to continually wipe her left nostril.  By the time we got home, both sides were running.  Now I am thinking maybe she just has a cold.  Who knows with this one?

I am sitting here watching her drag her doll house over in front of me and play peek a boo with me while ringing the door house on it.  She has make-up on as she was in her sister's room and received a make-over.  Not sure I like make-up on my 2 year old.

C went with out church's youth group to the Virginia Creeper Trail to ride bicycles.  They rode 17 miles and it took around 3 hours.  Don't feel too sorry for her as it was either level or downhill the whole way.  She hadn't been on a bicycle in years.  In fact Robby set both her bicycle and mine out on the street several weeks ago because the tires were dry rotted from non-use and being out in the weather.  She took Robby's bike and it was a little tall for her.  She said she had a rough time getting on and off but finally got the hang of it.  She says her bottom is pretty sore today.  HA!

I went to see the surgeon on Friday and she biopsied one of the nodules on my thyroid.  It was definitely not a fun experience.  They didn't give me Anything for pain.  But Dr. Cannon said it didn't look like it was cancer - none of the characteristics of cancer.  Of course, the pathologist still needed to look at it so we aren't 100% sure.  But it sounds promising.  She told me she would see me in 6 months. Robby says that is good news ..... I have at least 6 more months to live.  Leave it to Robby to find the bright spot in everything.  One of the reasons I love him.  It feels good not to have anything looming in the near future that needs "fixing".  I am feeling good.  I walked 9 miles total last week.  All I can say is "Thank you, Lord!"

Go Hogs Go!

What a week we have had.  We spent 2 hours in the ER Friday night with little Miss M.  We were watching a movie which of course requires us to eat popcorn. After it was over, M was playing behind the recliner and she came around and said "Popcorn" and pointed at her nose.  Sure enough she had put popcorn up her nose.  What do little kids think when they stick stuff up there nose?  We got the flashlight down and told her we needed to look for Barney in her nose.  We could see it barely at the top of the nostril.  Robby got a booger getter (don't know the official name for it) and tried to suck it out but that didn't work.  So then we tried to squirt water up her nose and wash it out.  Nope... didn't work.  Robby looked up on google about it and it said to blow in her mouth and try to blow it out.  Still didn't work but it sure made her mad.  I went and put pepper on my finger and put it up her nose thinking maybe she would sneeze it out.  Wouldn't you know we have the only kid who isn't affected by pepper?  No sneeze.  So we loaded her up and went to the ER.  We sat there for 2 hours and all of a sudden she gave 2 big sneezes and out came a big piece of popcorn.  We took off her ID bracelet and turned it in and left.  Guess they can't charge us since they hadn't seen her yet.  At least I hope they don't.  Saturday and again Monday she sneezed out a little more popcorn.  How much did she put up there??  Then yesterday she put an eraser from C's mechanical pencil up there as well as a part of a Fruit Loop. Luckily I was able to get those out by squeezing her little nose.  Wonder what is next????

This morning I let the dog out to go to the bathroom and M followed him out and into the backyard.  In fact the little stink followed him everywhere he went.  He couldn't get a moment to himself so he could go.  Finally I made her come sit with me on the deck so he could take care of his business.  Poor McGregor!  He just gets no peace in this house....except when she is asleep.

Nana Jean bought M this cheerleading outfit, hence the title of this week's blog.  Whoooo Pig Sooie!!!  No matter how far and how many times I move, I still love my Razorbacks.  Now to instill that into M.  Doesn't she look adorable???  Thanks Nana Jean for getting this for her.

C is playing soccer again this fall for the Rec Center in Burlington.  She is still playing defense and it looks like a season of her taking out the other players.  I am so glad she likes this and she is pretty good at it.  Go C Go!!!

I am going to see a surgeon Friday morning to see what they want to do about the nodules on my thyroid.  She will either biopsy it or choose just to watch it.  Honestly I am not sure what I want her to do. I think it would be best to biopsy it and make sure it is nothing.  But I sure would like to be done with all these tests.  Keep me in your prayers.  Later.......

Busy, Busy, Busy

Okay.... so I am terrible at blogging.  I apologize to everyone who has been checking and finding that I haven't posted anything.  I would promise to be better, but my track record isn't very good.  So....

Below are a couple pictures that I took while my sister-in-law, LaDonna, was here taking care of M and the rest of the family.  M would let me fix her hair but she would pull it back out almost as fast I got it put up.  But she loved (and left it up) when "Donna" did it her pigtails or "ponytails" as she calls them.  Of course she probably knew that "Donna" would just put it back up as soon as she took it down and knew that it would be a losing battle. HA!

The finished product.  Isn't she cute???

Here is my big princess, ready for her first day of 8th grade.  Did I just write 8th grade??  Where or where are the years going?  They are going by so fast.

Leave M alone for 5 minutes (or even 1 minute) and she can find something to do and it is usually not good.  C left her PERMANENT markers on the table the night before.  While I was out of the room, M picked out a loved pink color and proceeded to show her artwork.  Isn't it lovely?  And guess what?  It won't wash off.  Guess we will be painting this wall again at some point.  She looks pretty proud of herself, doesn't she?

M is Mommy's big helper.  She is the one who notices McGregor is out of food and water.  She will bring us the bowl and we go get his food.  She loves to scoop it.  We have to watch her though or she will just keep scooping and scooping until it is all over the floor.  Then she carries it back and puts it where it belongs.  She also loves to give him his daily greenie and treats.  She takes care of him better than C does.

M loves her big sis and wants to do whatever C is doing.  When C is in a good mood, she has more patience for M.  Sometimes after C has been gone all day, M will go to C's room and knock on the door asking to come in and usually C lets her.  Here is a picture of C looking through her Seventeen Magazine, as M looks on.  Wonder if M will be the fashionista that her big sis is???

Fall is in the air.  The mornings are cooler and we are able to play outside both morning and evening without it being too hot.  It is especially nice because her playset is not too hot to get on.  It is amazing how hot the plastic stuff can get.  This morning M had dumped all her blocks on the floor.  I told her that if she would pick all of them up and put the bag in her toy box we would go outside and play.  I told you she is a big helper.  So clean up she did and a good job she did at that.  Climbing up the fort...

and going down the slide.....

and chasing poor McGregor around the yard.  He loves when she takes a nap in the afternoon and he finally gets some peace and quiet.  Poor dog!

This is what is left of my yard swing.  The cushion and the cover dry rotted and we threw them away.  I am guessing that this might be the last year for this poor swing.  But M certainly still enjoys it.  But she could not entice the dog to swing with her.  No way  no how!!!!

Moving from the back yard to the front yard, she decided to ride her 4-wheeler.  She is just starting to get the hang of this, although she still hasn't learned to steer.  This picture was taken just before she drove into the house.  We also got out the soccer ball and kicked it around the front yard for a little while.  She is certainly one busy kid.

The latest update on me is that I think I am almost back to normal, whatever normal is.  My potassium seems to be normal for the time being.  I am still following the high potassium diet, which means no potatoes (regular or sweet), no tomatoes or tomato based products,  no bananas and no chocolate.  Okay, I confess, I cheat a little, but  not too much.  I am very proud of myself.  I haven't had any french fries or potato products in nearly 3 weeks.  I have had a slice of pizza here and there and I had a little ketchup Sunday night with some onion rings.  But all in all,I am handling that better than I thought I would.

I went last Wednesday and had an ultrasound of my thyroid.  It seems that when I had the CT scan of my lungs they saw something on my thyroid.  According to  my kidney doctor, there is definitely several nodules on my thyroid.  So she is referring me to an endocrinologist surgeon.  This doctor will decide whether she wants to biopsy the thyroid or just re-check it in a few months.  I am still waiting to hear about when the appointment is.  So the Tonja Saga continues.....  In the meantime, I am a busy mom taxi-ing C around to all her "things"..... soccer, church, and cheer.  She will be cheering for the basketball teams at her school this year for the first time.  Just what we needed one more thing to do.  But I am hoping that she enjoys this.  I think she will be good at it.
